You likely already know that you need to get routine maintenance completed on your Subaru car if you want the vehicle to last as long as it is capable of lasting. However, what exactly are mechanics referring to when they talk about routine maintenance?

Here at Herb Gordon Subaru, our team of Subaru mechanics is happy to educate Maryland drivers about which types of services are considered to be a part of routine Subaru maintenance.

Short-Term Check-Ups

Generally speaking, you can divide maintenance into short-term maintenance and long-term maintenance. Short-term, routine maintenance involves types of services and check-ups that should occur every six months. They include:

  • Oil change: Subaru oil change is necessary to keep your car’s engine running smoothly. Neglecting regular oil changes can lead to reduced efficiency and increased engine wear and tear.
  • Air filter replacement: The engine’s air filter regulates the air that flows into your engine and helps to keep out debris and particulates. It needs to be changed periodically to extend the life of your engine.
  • Tire pressure and tread depth check: Well-maintained and properly inflated tires are essential for safety and performance. At every check-up, we’ll check both tire pressure and tread depth.
  • Lights replacement: Headlights, turn signals, brake lights, and parking lights need to be properly functioning, but these are easy items to overlook.

Long-Term Check-Ups

These types of Subaru maintenance do not need to be completed as often but are still necessary:

  • Transmission fluid replenishment
  • Transfer case fluid replenishment
  • Shock and strut inspection
  • Coolant and fluid exchange
  • Spark plugs replacement

Schedule your regular Subaru maintenance appointment today at Herb Gordon Subaru. We look forward to getting your car back into top condition.
