Getting a flat tire is one of the most frustrating things that can happen to a driver. While sometimes flat tires are inevitable, they can be prevented simply by taking good care of your tires and replacing them when they wear down.
Here at Herb Gordon Subaru, our team of mechanics has a large selection of OEM Subaru tires for when yours need to be replaced. Here are some signs that you need new tires.
Your Tires Fail the Penny Test
One of the easiest ways to check the health of your car’s tires is to use a penny. Take the penny and set it in the tread groove with Lincoln’s head facing down. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, your tire has failed the penny test, and you may need new tires.
Your Tires Have Bulges
If you notice any bulges or bubbles on the sidewalls of your tires, it’s time to schedule an appointment with our Subaru service center. Bulges can lead to a tire blowout, and they mean that there is a weak spot in the tire.
The Sidewalls Are Cracked
As your tires get older, the rubber can dry out and crack. This leads to tire blowouts, which is something that you’ll want to avoid. If you notice cracks in the sidewalls, it’s time for new Subaru tires.
Your Tire Pressure Light Illuminates
Most newer Subaru cars are equipped with a tire pressure warning light which illuminates when your tires need to be replaced. If you notice that yours has turned on, schedule a service appointment to have yours filled up. A consistent leak may require repair.
If you have noticed any of the above signs of tire wear, do not wait for a flat tire and visit our shop for genuine Subaru parts.
