As the only part of your car that directly connects you to the road, tires are critically important. At some point in time, you’ve likely wondered whether the type of tire you have on your Subaru car makes any difference in its performance.
Here at Herb Gordon Subaru, our mechanics are here to tell you that not all tires are interchangeable. Different types of Subaru tires serve different needs. Here is a quick primer about the different types of tires that you’ll find.
Types of Subaru Tires
When you wish to get different tires installed on your Subaru Outback or different model, you’ll have plenty of options:
All-Season
Most Subaru models will come standard with all-season tires. These are well-rounded tires that are designed to deliver good comfort and handling on the highway, as well as reliable all-season traction.
Touring
Touring tires are designed for a comfortable ride and reliable all-season traction, with more responsive handling than all-season tires. They also have a higher speed rating and can feature an asymmetrical tread pattern.
Performance
Performance tires tend to have larger circumferential and lateral grooves, in order to improve wet weather traction. They have higher speed ratings than both touring and all-season tires.
Summer
These tires are designed for maximum performance in wet and dry conditions. If you have these installed, you’ll want to take them off before winter begins, as they are not designed for all-season traction.
Winter
Winter tires are designed for the best possible performance in harsh winter conditions such as snow, ice, and cold weather.
