When you’re looking for a car, it is important to take the vehicle’s fuel efficiency into account. Cars with a high MPG are good for the environment and your wallet. Let’s take a closer look at some Subaru fuel-efficiency features.

Subaru StarDrive® Technology

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid uses Subaru StarDrive® technology, which maximizes power, torque, and fuel efficiency. This feature is the best of both worlds, combining plug-in electric vehicle (PHEV) efficiency with SUBARU BOXER® gasoline engine endurance. Subaru StarDrive® utilizes two electric motors: one serves as an engine starter, and the other powers the vehicle during hybrid and electric driving modes.

Turning on Battery Charge Mode will prompt the gas engine to recharge the car’s battery while you drive, with up to a 33% battery capacity gain in just a 30-minute ride. The battery also automatically recharges through regenerative braking.

This hybrid technology is effective; the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid has an EPA-estimated 90 MPGe and up to 480 miles of total vehicle range.

Auto Stop-Start Feature

Fuel-efficient features aren’t limited to hybrids and EVs. Many Subaru vehicles are equipped with an auto stop-start system, which shuts down and restarts the engine when the car comes to a complete stop. This reduces the vehicle’s vehicle idle time, emissions, and fuel consumption.

Idling wastes fuel and lowers gas mileage, so this technology counteracts the negative impact of waiting at a red light. Who knew coming to a stop could be so fuel-efficient?

We have a wide selection of fuel-efficient new and pre-owned Subaru vehicles. Visit or call us today at Herb Gordon Subaru to schedule a test drive or learn more about Subaru fuel-efficiency technology. We would be happy to help you find your next Subaru car.
