With the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness, the all-terrain capabilities of the Subaru Forester get taken to new heights. This new trim level features off-road upgrades like increased ground clearance, a revised drivetrain, and the trail-tested confidence of an optimized version of Symmetrical all-wheel drive.

Here is what else sets the Subaru Forester Wilderness, soon to be available at our Subaru dealership, apart from the standard Subaru Forester.

Built for Rugged Adventures

The undeniable off-road capability of the Subaru Forester Wilderness begins with the dependable Symmetrical all-wheel drive. It boasts a balanced design for better stability on a wide range of surfaces and optimizes power distribution between the wheels to deliver maximum traction on challenging trails or in slippery weather conditions.

Here are some additional off-road-focused features that differentiate this Subaru SUV from the pack:

  • 9.2 inches of ground clearance: The redesigned front and rear bumpers help keep you clear of large rocks and other obstacles with improved approach and departure angles.
  • New wheels and tires: The Wilderness trim features standard Yokohama GEOLANDAR® all-terrain tires mounted to unique 17-inch black matte-finish alloy wheels.
  • Enhanced Dual-Function X-MODE®: The new dual-function X-MODE® is upgraded and re-tuned with new settings for snow, dirt, and deep snow and mud.
  • Redesigned roof rails: The standard roof rails feature Anodized Copper finish accents and are redesigned to carry up to 800 lb of static weight when parked, or accommodate a rooftop tent.
  • Redesigned SUBARU BOXER® Engine: The redesigned Forester Wilderness drivetrain features re-tuned gearing with revised ratios for improved low-speed climbing. Drivers are also treated to an upgraded towing capacity of 3,000 lb.
