The Subaru tires on your favorite vehicles are designed to keep you safe, maintain high fuel efficiency, and navigate tough terrain. That’s why it’s important to care for them regularly, with routine inspections and rotations. It’s also why you’ll want to make sure they have the right pressure on every ride. Our team at Herb Gordon Subaru is sharing the steps to take when you need to add air to your Subaru tires.

Check the Manual

Before you add air to the tires, you need to know what the right amount of pressure per tire is. That’s where your auto manual comes in. Check the manual for tire PSI, or pounds per square inch, to determine how much you need to fill your tires. Different types of tires, like winter or touring, might have different needs, so it’s always a good idea to verify.

Check Your Tire Pressure

Your Subaru vehicle will let you know when tire pressure is low, and you may even feel a difference in the ride. That said, you always need to check the tire pressure before you can add more. Do this using a tire pressure gauge, which can be easily purchased. Pull your vehicle to a complete stop and then locate the valves on the tires.

Unscrew the cap and attach the gauge. The gauge will let you know the current pressure and how much you need to fill up.

Fill Up at the Station

Most gas stations have air dispensers. After you have checked your tire pressure, you’ll want to remove the gauge and attach the air hose to the tire. Once you hear the sound of inflating, allow the air to flow for about ten seconds.

After that, check your pressure using the gauge again, and repeat until you get the pressure right. Do this for all four tires and then hit the road.
